In Raudondvaris manor the most relevant and attractive projects of the European Union (EU) Funds’ investments in Lithuania were granted “Europos burės 2017 (“European Sails 2017”) awards. Almost 10 thousand people voted for the projects implemented by the EU funds and determined which ones deserve to win – those with the highest value added for a person, country, society and the State.

“It is encouraging to see high involvement and activity of the public – the fact that both the projects of smaller regions and innovative companies as well as of public authorities were ranked among the best-rated projects proves that the public takes interest in, sees and appreciates a wide scope of investments and their results. The EU investments have made unrecognisable changes and further make changes to the face of our country in the eyes of both foreign investors and our people,” states Minister of Finance Vilius Šapoka.

Five awards – “Investment in a Person”, “Breakthrough to Foreign Markets”, “Most Innovative Solutions”, and “Creation of Modern Environment” – to the projects that received most votes from the public and the Selection Commission’s award were granted at the event.

UAB Deeper, which received the award for the “Breakthrough to Foreign Markets” and the Commission’s choice award, created the first in the world smart fishing sonar in 2013. The EU investments have opened to the company export roads to more than 50 foreign countries, where currently it exports 97% of its total production.

The STI e-invoicing system (i.SAF) was awarded for the “Most Innovative Solutions”. The system created allows submitting and receiving VAT invoice data, and its popularity is proved by more than 90 million invoices registered in this system.

Kupiškis District Municipality was evaluated for the “Creation of Modern Environment”. The arrangement of the production site located at Krantinės street in Kupiškis town and creation of presumptions for private investments have already attracted investments. Soon UAB Domimaks will start its activities there, which will create 150 new jobs.

Social nomination for the “Investment in a Person” was granted to the State Studies Foundation, which ensured higher accessibility of studies to people with disabilities. During the project the premises of the higher education schools were adapted to the needs of the disabled, the employees attended special training, and the students themselves were granted special monthly benefits.

This year the Commission, who selected twelve finalists and granted the Commission’s choice award to UAB Deeper, was composed of Kęstutis Jankauskas, Deputy Director General of the Lithuanian Business Confederation (LBC), Giedrė Švedienė, Executive Director of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists (LCI), Žygimantas Mauricas, Senior Lecturer at ISM University of Management and Economics and journalist, and Aurimas Perednis, radio host at “Žinių radijas” (“News Radio”).
