The Economic Development Scenario for 2016–2019 prepared by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania is duly substantiated and in line with economic realities – the National Audit Office of the Republic of Lithuania announced today.

"The Opinion of the National Audit Office confirms that the Ministry of Finance assesses the country’s economic development perspectives in a responsible and cautious manner by duly assessing drivers for economic growth and potential risks. Economic projections also help to properly arrange the budget plans and provide national development indications to the business", Minister of Finance Rimantas Šadžius said.

The National Audit Office, as the institution implementing the functions of budget policy control, assessed and approved the Economic Development Scenario for 2016–2019 prepared and published by the Ministry of Finance. The Opinion on the Scenario will be submitted to the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania.

The Scenario prepared by the Ministry of Finance envisages that the reduced dependency on the Russian market, relatively stable development of the main export markets of Lithuania (based on the European Commission Winter 2016 Forecast) and the incentive economic management policy at EU level implemented within the medium term will create the basis for a more accelerated than in 2015 and sustainable economic growth of Lithuania. The Ministry of Finance projects that this year GDP of Lithuania will grow by 2.5%, while the Commission projects GDP growth of 2.9%.

More information on macroeconomic projections for 2016-2019 by the Ministry of Finance is available on the website of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania.
