2012 10 26

Vilnius, October 26.  According to the latest data published by the European Commission (EC), Lithuania ranks first by the payments made from the European Union (EU) Structural Funds.

The amount disbursed by the EC to Lithuania amounts to almost 50% (49.4%) of total structural assistance allocation planned in the EU Financial Perspective for 2007 – 2013. Ireland ranks second by the share of payments made by the EC (48.1%).

On-going project monitoring, co-operation between institutions and beneficiaries predetermines the fact that not for the first time Lithuania is the leader by payments made by the EC. The total allocation planned for Lithuania in the EU Financial Perspective for 2007 – 2013 is more than LTL 23 billion of EU Funds assistance. The number of projects currently under implementation or implemented projects exceeds 6,500, and the contracted amount planned to be allocated to the projects is more than LTL 20 billion of EU Funds assistance or 86% of total funding allocated to Lithuania for the 2007–2013 programming period.
