Mindaugas Kurauskas appointed CEO of Giraitės ginkluotės gamykla AB

Mindaugas Kurauskas has been appointed as CEO of Giraitės ginkluotės gamykla AB, the sole ammunition manufacturer in the Baltic States. M. Kurauskas, who has won the competition announced by the Board of the Company, takes up his new position from 16 June.

"In today's geopolitical situation, the importance of manufacturing activities is taking on new significance. The supply of ammunition, the development of the defence industry and investment in manufacturing are areas where we cannot delay. That is why one of the goals of the new CEO is to strengthen the company's cooperation with investors by implementing joint projects that would increase Lithuania's defence potential", Minister of Finance Rimantas Šadžius says. 

M. Kurauskas has been the former CEO of Grafobal Vilnius, one of the largest printed packaging companies in the Baltic States, for more than 20 years. He started his career here as a Sales Manager (2001-2006) and later as a Commercial Director (2006-2019). He held the position of Executive Director from 2019 to 2024. M. Kurauskas holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a qualification as a graduate engineer in polygraphy at Kaunas University of Technology.

Kurauskas will implement ambitious plans for the development of the factory – increasing manufacturing volumes and product range, expanding export markets", Dangirutis Janušas, Chairman of the Board of Giraitės ginkluotės gamykla AB, states.  

The Board of Giraitės ginkluotės gamykla AB appointed M. Kurauskas as the CEO of the company for a term of 5 years.

“I understand the importance and am fully prepared to join the team of a company with strategic status for Lithuania. Hard but meaningful work awaits. Works are starting, the implementation of which will allow us to say that we have a factory with the highest standards of quality, with efficient production and recognition in the international market", the new CEO of Giraitės ginkluotės gamykla AB noted. 

For more than two decades, Giraitės ginkluotės gamykla AB has focused on manufacturing of the highest quality ammunition, for which it is recognized in the international market. The shareholder of the company is the State of Lithuania, and it owns 100% of the shares. The rights and duties of the shareholder shall be exercised by the Ministry of Finance. 

A total of 89 applications were received for the position of manager of the company. The shortlist of candidates, which was evaluated by the Board of Giraitės ginkluotės gamykla AB, was drawn up by 7 candidates.
