Over the 3rd Quarter of 2006 General Government Debt Narrowed by LTL 79.2 Million

Vilnius, November 30, 2006. According to the data presented by the Ministry of Finance, at the end of the 3rd quarter of 2006 general government consolidated debt was LTL 13.3 billion and it made up 16.3 % of the projected GDP.

Over the 3rd quarter of 2006 general government debt narrowed by LTL 79.2 million.

Domestic debt shrank by LTL 37.4 million and was LTL 4.6 million (i.e. represented 34.7 % of total general government debt). Foreign debt decreased by LTL 41.8 million and made up LTL 8.7 billion (i.e. 65.3 %).

At the end of the 3rd quarter, general government debt consisted of LTL 12.7 billion of central government debt, LTL 0.5 billion of local government debt and LTL 68.4 million of the debt of social insurance funds.

Total long-term debt, at the end of the 3rd quarter, was LTL 12.6 billion (i.e. accounted for 95.1 % of total general government debt), short-term debt – LTL 0.6 billion (i.e. represented 4.9 % of total general government debt). The major part of general government debt (i.e. 90.5 %) consisted of securities.
