Vice-Ministers of Finance – Long-Serving Staff Members of the Ministry

By Minister of Finance Vilius Šapoka Order, on this date three new Vice-Ministers – Daiva Brasiūnaitė, Loreta Maskaliovienė and Darius Sadeckas – start their work. All of them are the long-serving staff members of the Ministry of Finance.

“They are people whom I confident to call experienced specialists, I have no doubts over their competence not only in the areas they have worked for a long time but also in the whole wide field of the Ministry of Finance and outside it,” Minister of Finance V. Šapoka commented on the choice of the team members.  According to the Minister, the management requires people with strategic thinking, prepared for the changes, venturesome at work, who may be an ambitious driving force.

Having acquired Master’s degree in Economy at Vilnius University Daiva Brasiūnaitė, who will be responsible for tax issues, has been working in the area of taxes for 18 years. At the Ministry of Finance she started working as a Chief Specialist of the Indirect Taxes Division, later on she was appointed as the Head of this Division, Deputy Director of the Tax Department, and since the beginning of the current year – Director of this Department.

“The main purpose in the tax area is a clear, transparent and as simple as possible tax system. I will also focus largely on improving tax collection to ensure equal competitive conditions for business that is honest in paying taxes,” Vice-Minister D. Brasiūnaitė listed key activities.

One of the main areas that Vice-Minister Loreta Maskaliovienė will be responsible for is the European Union investment in Lithuania. “Priority attention will be paid to a wider application of financial instruments in different economic areas and attraction of private funds in the implementation of the projects significant to the State,” the Vice-Minister said.

L. Maskaliovienė has been working in different positions at the Ministry of Finance for 9 years, of which for the past 6 years – as the Director of the European Union Investment Department. By that time she worked in the Strategic Planning and Finance Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, she completed the studies of Civil Engineering at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.

“I will focus on improving the budget formation policy: strengthening of the budget system in the medium term, initiatives contributing to orientation of the budget towards results and enhancing efficiency of the use of public finances,” Vice-Minister Darius Sadeckas identified the priorities.

Having completed the Economics Studies at Vilnius University with the Master’s degree D. Sadeckas started working at the Ministry of Finance as a Chief Specialist of the Budget Department in 2002, and since 2008 he has been the Deputy Director of this Department.
