Another EUR 360 million of funds under the plan “Next Generation Lithuania” reached Lithuania

Lithuania received a payment of EUR 360.4 million from the European Commission for the fifth payment request submitted last December under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) plan. Vice-Minister of Finance Neringa Rinkevičiūtė – Laurinaitienė emphasizes that Lithuania is consistently implementing the RRF plan, the funds received are used reliably and invested in structural reforms and long-term economic growth.

“European investments that reach our country under the plan “Next Generation Lithuania” ensure the achievement of long-term goals – increasing the competitiveness of our economy, the quality of education, health and many other areas of life. Last year we submitted two payment requests worth almost EUR 1 billion, and this year over EUR 800 million of European funds have been received, the impact of which will be felt by every resident of the country,” Vice-Minister Rinkevičiūtė – Laurinaitienė states.  

The total amount of the fifth payment request is EUR 387.9 million, or EUR 360.4 million after deduction of the advance.

The fifth payment request successfully reported for 5 targets and milestones. In order to improve the availability of financing for business in Lithuania, the payment request reported on the milestone regarding the approval of the ILTE investment policy.

Four targets and milestones covering loans to companies were also reported to promote private and public investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy, as well as to finance green and high value-added technologies enhancing the competitiveness of the industrial, defence and security sectors.

On 3 February, the EC adopted a positive decision on the last (40th) milestone of thefourth payment request of the plan, and the usual procedures for the consideration of the decision by the EC Committee are ongoing, after which the payment of EUR 50 million is expected to reach Lithuania as early as March.  

Lithuania plans to submit the sixth payment request worth EUR 178 million to the EC on 31 March.

In total, Lithuania has received EUR 2.6 billion (68%) under the plan “Next Generation Lithuania”. The final payment request under the Lithuanian plan will be submitted in September this year.
