During the Singapore Fintech Festival 2025, one of the largest financial technology events in the world, Vice-Minister of Finance of Lithuania Januš Kizenevič presented the Lithuanian Fintech ecosystem, invited Singaporean financial sector companies to establish partnerships in Lithuania, invest here and develop activities across the EU.
Speaking at the festival, which attracts more than 65,000 participants from 134 countries every year, J. Kizenevič emphasized that the potential of financial technology in Europe is huge, and Lithuania is a particularly attractive country for the Fintech sector. Continuous cooperation with the Fintech ecosystem and a risk-based approach enable companies to expand their portfolio of products and services, attract new customers and earn profits.
“Lithuania has already established itself as a European FinTech hub, and one of our main strengths is access to the European market, with more than 400 million consumers with high purchasing power looking for new financial solutions and services. Bilateral cooperation between Lithuanian and Singaporean FinTech businesses would bring tangible benefits”, Vice-Minister of Finance J. Kizenevič stated.
Lithuania leads the EU in terms of the number of licenses issued, currently more than 280 financial technology companies operate in Lithuania, and for the accelerated development of financial technology, it is no less important that Lithuania's focus on sound risk management is recognized internationally.
According to the 2024 Basel AML Index, Lithuania ranks among the ten countries in the world with the lowest risk of money laundering.
In bilateral meetings with representatives of the Singaporean business and financial sector, J. Kizenevič presented Lithuania's advantages and the guidelines for the development of the Fintech sector in Lithuania, prepared by the Ministry of Finance together with partners and currently being updated.
Their implementation will allow for stable and sustainable growth of the sector in the future and will ensure the supply of the necessary talent. Currently, nearly 8 thousand highly qualified specialists work in Fintech companies in Lithuania.
“We are updating the guidelines to better reflect market changes and emerging trends in financial technology. However, our vision remains unchanged: to ensure that Lithuania continues to be one of the most reliable, transparent and future-oriented jurisdictions and a focal point for high-value-added technologies in Europe,” the Vice-Minister noted.
The potential of the Fintech sector in the world is growing rapidly, and it is projected that the global revenue of this sector in 2030 will reach about USD 1.5 trillion.
