At the meeting with Japan’s Vice-Minister of Finance for International Affairs, G. Skaistė: “We see potential to strengthen collaboration between Lithuania and Japan in supporting Ukraine”
Today, Minister of Finance Gintarė Skaistė had a meeting with Japan’s Vice-Minister of Finance for International Affairs Masato Kanda. The meeting mainly focused on mobilisation of support to Ukraine and collaboration between Lithuania and Japan in this area. Bilateral economic relations were also discussed at the meeting.
“Japan, just like Lithuania, is an active supporter of Ukraine, providing to Kyiv a significant financial and humanitarian support. We see opportunities for strengthening collaboration with Japan in contributing to the reconstruction of Ukraine, taking advantage of Lithuania’s experience and expertise in this area. We must continue supporting Ukraine and strengthen the sanction regime as well as its implementation effectiveness. To find legally acceptable solutions which would allow to divert frozen assets of the Central Bank of russia to the needs of Ukraine is of vital importance”, said G. Skaistė.
Minister G. Skaistė invited Japan to consider possibilities of contributing to Lithuania’s Fund for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid and implementing joint reconstruction projects of Lithuania and Japan in Ukraine.
Bilateral economic relations between Lithuania and Japan as well as potential to deepen collaboration in areas such as Fintech, green finance and financial sector were also discussed at the meeting.
