Day two in Brussels brought more substance to the agenda Lithuania will help steer during EU Council Presidency

Today Finance Minister Taurimas Valys joined a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and presented Lithuania’s multi-layered defence financing model and the priorities of Lithuania’s upcoming EU Council Presidency – with security and defence at the core.

At the European Commission and Parliament, discussions moved from financial services, capital markets and investment to the future of cohesion policy and the next long-term EU budget.

Minister Valys met with Commissioners Maria Luís Albuquerque and Raffaele Fitto and MEP Markus Ferber. Together with Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius, he also met with Commissioners Valdis Dombrovskis and Andrius Kubilius.

Vice-Minister Januš Kizenevič met with MEP G. Crosetto to discuss key challenges facing Europe and the agenda ahead of EU Council Presidency.

Security, competitiveness, investment and a stronger Europe – different parts of one agenda Lithuania is preparing to help move forward in 2027.
