EUR 1.6 billion for regions: 100th call for proposals for EU Investments launched
The 100th call for proposals for projects planned by the regions has been launched. It invites the administration of Kazlų Rūda Municipality to submit a project implementation plan in the field of education. The total number of calls for projects planned by the regions amounted to EUR 225.4 million, and contracts were signed with municipalities amounting to EUR 7.3 million. During the new European Union (EU) investment financing period, EUR 1.6 billion has been allocated to the Lithuanian regions, which will be invested in regional development.
“Through EU investment, we have every chance to achieve a qualitative breakthrough by strengthening our regions. Compared to the previous EU investment perspective, regions alone will receive significantly higher investments. For the 2014-2020 period, about EUR 972 million of EU funding were allocated to the regions. In the new perspective, as much as EUR 1.6 billion of EU Structural Funds have been allocated to the implementation of the programme,” Vice-Minister of Finance Vaida Markevičienė says.
During the 100th call project it is planned to increase the number of pre-school education groups and pre-school education places in the nursery-kindergarten “Pušelė” of Kazlų Rūda Kazys Grinius Gymnasium Division. After consulting the local community, it was decided to reconstruct the nursery-kindergarten building by installing and adapting indoor and outdoor spaces for educational activities. In the reconstructed premises, it is planned to install a sports educational space to maintain children’s physical activity. Also, in the development of diverse education, the indoor and outdoor spaces of Kazlų Rūda Kazys Grinius Gymnasium Division Kazlų Rūda Primary School and Plutiškiai Gymnasium will be managed, creating conditions to carry out all day school activities there.
This will be the first project in the field of education in Marijampolė region, the amount of EUR 960,500 of EU funds is allocated to it.
The total number of calls for projects planned by the regions amounts to EUR 225.4 million. The largest number of calls were announced in the area of improving the economic and public service accessibility of regions, functional areas, municipalities and cities, administered by the Ministry of the Interior, for EUR 54.9 million.
In the field of transport, calls for projects reached EUR 41.1 million. They will implement projects aimed at improving the safety of road or street infrastructure, renewal of the public transport fleet, development of cycling and pedestrian path infrastructure in cities and measures that contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
In the field of education, the volume of calls for projects amounts to EUR 40.9 million. Regions are invited to submit projects to increase access to education for children who are excluded and to develop diverse education through all-day school activities.
Calls for regional projects are planned to be launched by the end of 2024 for almost half of the planned EUR 1.6 billion.
