EU decisions on the budget, investments, economic growth and security have a direct impact on Lithuania and its people – from regional development to new opportunities for businesses and society.
Finance Minister Taurimas Valys met with Barry Ward, Chair of the European Union Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Ireland, in Dublin. The discussion focused on the priorities of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU and Lithuania’s preparations for its Presidency in the first half of 2027.
Lithuania welcomes Ireland’s focus on the new EU Multiannual Financial Framework (2028–2034), the Savings and Investment Union agenda, and continued support for Ukraine.
As Lithuania prepares to take over the Presidency of the Council of the EU, we will work towards decisions that strengthen European security, competitiveness, economic resilience and ensure the effective use of common EU resources.
