Minister of Finance met with the Ambassador of Ireland to Lithuania

Minister of Finance Taurimas Valys met with the Ambassador of Ireland to Lithuania, Séadhna MacHugh. The meeting focused on key issues on the EU agenda, bilateral cooperation, and Lithuania's upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Lithuania welcomes Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the EU and supports its priorities – advancing negotiations on the new EU Multiannual Financial Framework, strengthening the Savings and Investments Union, and continuing support for Ukraine.

Particular attention was also given to Lithuania's Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2027. During its Presidency, Lithuania will focus primarily on European security and defence, competitiveness and economic resilience, as well as support for Ukraine.

Cooperation between Lithuania and Ireland is important in pursuing our shared goal: a stronger, safer, and more competitive Europe.
