Minister of Finance T. Valys called on diplomats to step up cooperation during the Presidency of the Council of the EU
Today at the meeting in the Government Office with the heads of diplomatic missions, missions to international organisations and consular posts of the Republic of Lithuania, Minister of Finance Taurimas Valys discussed the main financial and economic priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU (in the first half of 2027), tax policy issues and support for Ukraine.
“A milestone for Lithuania is approaching – a semester for which we have set very clear and important priorities: support for Ukraine, improvement of financial services and taxation policy, as well as negotiations on the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028-2034. Support from international partners will be crucial at this stage”, Mr T. Valys underlined.
The meeting focused on increased international cooperation, Lithuania's continued support for Ukraine and the need to tighten sanctions on Russia in order to reduce its ability to continue the war.
