Official investigation has been initiated in the Ministry of Finance concerning a possible debasement of the officer’s name by D. Žvironas
On Monday, the Ministry of Finance formed a commission on possible debasement of the officer’s name by Director General of the Customs Department Darius Žvironas, when, on 24 July this year, during his annual leave, he was driving a car being under an alcohol intoxication.
The Head of the Personnel Division of the Ministry Livijus Čižikas is appointed as the Chairman of the commission.
The commission, after considering all the circumstances, will issue a reasoned conclusion on the outcome of the investigation. If the commission finds that the civil servant by his conduct has debased the officer’s name, in accordance with the procedure laid down by law, D. Žvironas will be subject to the only possible penalty, i.e. removal from position.
The commission is obliged to carry out an official investigation and to submit a reasoned conclusion on the outcome of the investigation to the Minister of Finance in accordance with the procedure and deadlines laid down by law.
D. Žvironas, as successful tenderer in June 2021, has been appointed to the position of the Director General of the Customs Department for a first term of office.
