Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk – focus on the country’s resilience, investment and integration into the European Union

On 25-26 June, Minister of Finance Kristupas Vaitiekūnas will attend the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026 (URC 2026) in Gdansk, the most important international forum for Ukraine’s reconstruction, economic recovery and investment attraction.

“Lithuania remains one of the most active supporters of Ukraine. We have already allocated almost EUR 2 billion in support. However, our aim is not only to help Ukraine defend itself against the aggressor, but also to contribute to the country’s long-term economic recovery, reform implementation and integration into the European Union. This will be one of the key priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2027," Minister of Finance Kristupas Vaitiekūnas said ahead of the visit.

In the Ukraine Financial Coordination Group, K. Vaitiekūnas will discuss measures aimed at strengthening international support to Ukraine and discuss possibilities for further support to the country at war. According to the Minister, strategic planning of Ukraine's financing needs after 2027 should start well before the existing measures are exhausted, therefore, it is necessary to return to the question of the use of frozen assets of the Central Bank of Russia for Ukraine's needs.

During the visit, the Minister will also meet with the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko and present the priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2027, one of which is the continued and sufficient financial support to Ukraine. The bilateral meeting is expected to discuss Ukraine's financial needs, mobilisation of international support, reconstruction funding and Ukraine's readiness for membership of the European Union.

In Gdansk, it is also planned to sign a joint declaration between Lithuania and Ukraine on strengthening cooperation in the field of business partnerships. The document will consolidate the commitment of both sides to strengthen business partnerships and highlight the role of the private sector in restoring Ukraine’s economy and infrastructure, creating jobs, strengthening resilience, developing innovation and integrating Ukraine into European production and supply chains.

The Ukraine Recovery Conference is an annual international event that coordinates support for Ukraine’s recovery and reforms and brings together the international community for joint action for Ukraine’s economic recovery. This year's conference will pay particular attention to the role of the private sector in the reconstruction of Ukraine, the mobilisation of investment, the involvement of international financial institutions and the security and defence aspects that are a prerequisite for Ukraine's sustainable recovery.

Part of the conference will be broadcast live on the website of the conference.
