2022–2029 Lithuanian- Swiss Cooperation Programme
On 30 June 2022 Switzerland and the European Union have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the financial contribution of Switzerland and the European Union, which sets out the main conditions and obligations for the contribution of Switzerland to socio-economic cohesion and cooperation on migration. A total of 45.2 million Swiss francs has been allocated to Lithuania under the Swiss–Lithuanian Cooperation Programme in the area of socio-economic cohesion, to be used by 3 December 2029.
Three areas (programmes) are funded under the Lithuanian-Swiss Cooperation Programme:
1. Maternal and Child Health and Wellbeing
- Objective: To improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare and social services — particularly outpatient services — for mothers, infants and children.
- Programme value: EUR 36.18 million, including Lithuania’s national contribution.
2. Vocational Education and Training
- Objective: To ensure that the vocational education and training (VET) system meets labour market needs by improving the alignment between skills acquired in education and labour market requirements and by attracting highly qualified professionals to the system.
- Programme value: EUR 5.48 million, including Lithuania’s national contribution.
3. Civic Engagement
- Objective: To empower civil society, strengthen its participation in decision-making processes, and improve the quality and capacity of civil society organisations.
- Programme value: EUR 12.2 million, including Lithuania’s national contribution.
