Block grant “Transfer of Experience and Strengthening of Cooperation among Local, Regional and Euroregional Partners in Lithuania and Norway” (Cooperation Fund)

The purpose of the Fund is to support the transfer of Norwegian know-how and good practices to Lithuanian local and regional level institutions and encourage exchange of experience between Lithuanian and Norwegian institutions, with the overall objective of contributing to the development of regional policy in Lithuania through transferring the experience and strengthening of cooperation among local, regional and euroregional partners in Lithuania and Norway.

The Intermediary of the Fund – Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania.

The budget of the Fund – EUR 3 million. The funds will be allocated from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism.

Two open calls for proposals will be held during the implementation of the Block Grant. The 1st Open Call for proposals is foreseen in the 4thquarter of 2008.

Eligible applicants are those legally in Lithuania established non profit-making entities, public authorities, such as state and municipal institutions, non-governmental organisations, such as associations of local and regional authorities; chambers of commerce; professional associations; regional development agencies; etc. Eligible partners are legal entities constituted in Norway.

Eligible activities include, but are not limited to, the development of Public Private Partnership, fostering entrepreneurship skills in the community, and promotion of community building initiative.
