Minister of Finance K. Vaitiekūnas: “We are moving forward with confidence in the RRF plan implementation. Sixth payment request of EUR 153 million submitted"
Lithuania has submitted the sixth payment request under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) to the European Commission. It is planned that after receiving a positive assessment from the EC, Lithuania will receive EUR 153 million, after deducting the advances.
Lithuania’s sixth payment request, which amounts to EUR 178 million (EUR 153 million minus the advance), covers 18 milestones and targets. Achievements in the areas of health care, sustainable electricity production, building renovation, digitalisation of the public and private sectors, social exclusion, reduction of income inequality, and other will be reported on.
“We are moving forward with confidence in the implementation of the plan “Next Generation Lithuania” and projects that improve the quality of various activities and life in Lithuania. This time in the areas of health, digitalisation, building renovation, etc. We are confident that we have satisfactorily fulfilled all the milestones and targets of the RRF plan provided for in this application and the European Commission will assess this positively", Minister of Finance Kristupas Vaitiekūnassays.
According to the Minister, the year 2025 has undoubtedly become a success year for the implementation of the plan “Next Generation Lithuania”, with two payment requests for almost EUR 1 billion submitted to the EC in the last half of last year alone. The funding received will be channelled to boost Lithuania's economic growth, structural reforms, business investments, energy efficiency and other areas.
The RRF plan is being implemented intensively: all reforms have now been implemented, with the exception of the last reform of interurban transport, and investment is progressing at a rapid pace. As of 1 March, project contracts worth EUR 3.565 billion were signed, representing 93% of the plan funds, and EUR 2.152 billion (56%) was disbursed to project operators.
Currently, under the plan “Next Generation Lithuania”, Lithuania has received a total of EUR 2.69 billion, advances included. The plan “Next Generation Lithuania” is unique in that the funds are not paid for the costs incurred under the projects, but only when the milestones and targets are achieved.
Lithuania’s final payment request will be submitted in September 2026.
