The International Monetary Fund experts will assess Lithuania's economic situation and prospects
Today, Minister of Finance Rimantas Šadžius had a meeting with Kazuko Shirono, Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Lithuania, and IMF experts, who will analyse the country's economic situation and prospects, the state of the financial sector and public finances this week.
"I welcome the continued cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, the insights and recommendations provided by the experts of this international financial institution help to find solutions to ensure the sustainable growth of the Lithuanian economy and its competitiveness, as well as provide valuable advice on how to manage potential risks to the country's economy," R. Šadžius noted.
During the mission, which will take place on 27-31 January, the IMF representatives will also meet with representatives of the Government, the Seimas, the Presidency, the Bank of Lithuania, the National Audit Office and other state institutions, social partners and the private sector.
Lithuania became a member of the IMF in 1992. The representatives of the Fund visit our country every year, assess its economic situation and development trends.

The purpose of establishing the Fund was to promote international cooperation in monetary and exchange rate policy, strengthen global economic growth, increase employment and provide temporary financial assistance to solve balance of payments problems of member countries.
