Lithuania allocates EUR 10 million to Ukraine through the World Bank instruments

Lithuania will contribute EUR 10 million to the Ukraine Relief, Recovery, Reconstruction and Reform Trust Fund by the World Bank. The Fund contributes to the reconstruction of the country's damaged energy infrastructure, homes, schools, hospitals and other urgent financing needs of Ukraine. This will be Lithuania’s second contribution to the Fund, EUR 5 million were allocated in December 2022.

“As russia’s war against Ukraine has been ongoing for 1,000 days, Lithuania continues to resolutely provide Ukraine with financial, humanitarian and military support. Given that this World Bank’s Fund allows us to effectively provide support by rebuilding vital infrastructure, ensuring the provision of public services and supporting education, health, housing and other sectors in the country that is defending itself, we make an additional contribution of EUR 10 million”, Minister of Finance Gintarė Skaistė stated.

The funds will be transferred to the Fund in the coming days, after completion of the necessary legal procedures.

Since its establishment in December 2022, 17 donor countries, including Lithuania, have joined the Fund. Between 2022 and 2024, the Fund mobilised almost USD 2 billion in donor support, of which USD 1.2 billion has already been disbursed to projects.

Since the start of russia's war against Ukraine, Lithuania has provided over EUR 1.5 billion in military, financial and humanitarian support to Ukraine.
